Perhaps it was the wind, the intermittent rain, the slippery surface or the depleted squads but a game that never ignited fittingly ended in a draw with both sides happy to take a point at the end of the day.
We started without David Moran, Tommy Walsh and Shane McElligott from the previous win over Spa but with Sam Pituch and Keelan Crowe also absent from the proposed starting XV, Darragh McElligott and Gazza were both included from the start.
We had the aid of the elements in the first half and were full value for our early 4 point lead with two from the lively Gearóid Dillane and one each from Diarmuid and Darragh; Dingle raised their first flag in the 12th minute and followed this with another to halve the lead, 0-04 to 0-02 after the first quarter.
We added another 3 points before the break with Tom Hoare (2) and Ben Hanafin getting on the score sheet but also had 3 wides in this period along with a no of shots dropping short or going astray - Dingle added one more point to leave the half time score at 0-07 to 0-03.
Daniel Bowler come in at half time at wing back with TJ Heaphy reverting to the centre following Con Barrett's forced withdrawal but it was Dingle who were now forcing the pace with two quickfire points - we replied in kind via Darragh and Tom but Dingle were now in the ascendancy with Mikey & Niall Geaney prominent, Mikey with the final 3 points of the game.
Despite an additional two minutes at the end, neither side could break the deadlock and so we will head to the final game vs Legion in two weeks time with the spectre of relegation still hanging over us despite being on 10 points and ranking 6th in the table.
