Everyone in the club is deeply saddened following the news today of the death of our club president Mossie Kelly.
Mossie has had a lifelong association with his beloved Strand Road, winning senior county championship medals in 1953, ‘54 & ’57.
Mossie scored the winning goal in the ‘54 win over Kenmare - final score was 2-01 to 1-02.
Following his retirement he remained loyal to his roots, firstly as a supporter & latterly as club sponsor for a period of time.
He became club president in 2020 & though in failing health made the journey to Croke Park this year in Jan to attend the All Ireland club semi final - he was in attendance too in March when we celebrated our Kerry & Munster club winning achievements.
We extend our deepest sympathies at this time to Mossie’s family & friends.
Mossie’s remains will lie in repose in the clubhouse in Strand Road on tomorrow Weds 16th Aug between the hours of 6-9 pm with mass on Thursday morning @ 10.00 am in St John’s Church - a private cremation will follow.
Club members are asked to gather @ 5.30 pm tomorrow at the entrance to the club for a guard of honour & again on Thursday morning @ 10.30 am in St John’s Church.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam alainn, uasal Gaelach.
