The first round draw for this year’s senior county championship, sponsored by Garvey’s Supervalu, was made on Monday night last in Tralee Bay Wetlands and sees us pitted against North Kerry divisional side Feale Rangers – Feale Rangers were first out of the hat which could mean a home game for them but there is no automatic entitlement to this as the county board may play some double bills.
The CCC of the county board will be meeting on next Tuesday 7th to confirm venues and provisional dates.
Dates:
Scenario 1
In the event of Kerry reaching the All-Ireland Senior Football Final the Rd 1 games will be played on the Weekend of 8/9 Sept (the weekend after the All-Ireland Final).
Also in this scenario the Qualifier game between St. Brendans & West Kerry will be played on Tues 4 Sept in Austin Stack Park. Note this game will be on a ‘result on the day’ format as agreed by both teams earlier in the year.
Scenario 2
In the event of Kerry not reaching the All-Ireland Senior Football Final the Rd 1 games will be played on either Sat Aug 25 or Sat Sept 1. Note the Saturday games are because the County Senior Hurling Final is on Sun Aug 26 and the All-Ireland Senior Football Final is on Sun Sept 2. The games that will definitely be played on the second weekend would be East Kerry v Winners of St Brendans or West Kerry and any game involving dual players who are involved in the Co Hurling Final on the first weekend.
Also in this scenario the Qualifier game between St. Brendans & West Kerry will be played on Tues 28 Aug in Austin Stack Park. Note this game will be on a ‘result on the day’ format as agreed by both teams earlier in the year.
