The North Kerry League final between Kerins O’Rahillys and Corca Dhuibhne was played on Tuesday evening last, April 10th in Gallarus.
Both teams lined out with a full complement of players on a dry but windy evening.
In the first half The Blues played with a strong wind to their backs and with Kelly Fitzgerald in flying form at full forward ( scoring a goal and 4pts in the first half) they took the lead from the start.
Aoibhín MacCarthy at no. 11 won some great ball setting up and getting some great scores. Lauren Doody at centre half back was very solid in defence and also scored a pt from play.
At the half time whistle our Strand Road girls lead by 1-8 to 1-2.
In the second half the girls from the west exerted a lot of pressure scoring a second goal and a few pts thus reducing the lead. However midfielders Ella O’ Connor and Sophie Hassett dominated for the Blues catching most kick outs and scoring pts from play and frees.
Other girls who deserve a special mention for their performance on the night are Saoirse MacCarthy, young Aoibheann McCarthy who scored a goal and Nathali Mulumba who at wing forward was outstanding contesting every ball.
When the final whistle blew the score was The Blues 2-17 / Corca Dhuibhne 2-05.
This was a great win for these up and coming footballers. Sharon Roche on behalf of The North Kerry Board presented the Cup to the winning capt. Aoibhín MacCarthy who gave a lovely speech and called for three cheers for Corca Dhuibhne.
The winning team lined out as follows…. 1. Millie O’ Brien 2. Ava Ward, 3. Rachel Foley, 4. Millie Hayes, 5. Fiadh McCarthy, 6. Lauren Doody (0-1) , 7. Saoirse MacCarthy, 8. Ella O’ Connor (0-1), 9. Sophie Hassett ( 0-3), 10. Aoibheann McCarthy (1-0) 11. Aoibhín MacCarthy (capt) (0-5), 12. Nathali Mulvihill (0-2), 13. Farah Leahy, 14. Kelly Fitzgerald ( 1-5) , 15. Aoife Behan.

U14 Girls
Great performance by our girls in the Féile competition last Saturday, April 14th in Caherslee where divisions 3 and 4 played. Kerins O’Rahillys were drawn in a group with Milltown / Listry and Rathmore. The girls played Milltown / Listry in their first game and won comfortably 3-11 to 0-1.
In their second game they played Rathmore. This game proved to be some battle on the pitch. Our girls never gave up and the final score was Kerins O’Rahillys 1-3 , Rathmore 2-2.
Great football played by all. Rathmore met Fossa in the final.
Congrats to Fossa and their management as they head off to Louth in June.
