Credit Union Co League Div 1
Round 2 of the County League sees us travel to Killarney on Sunday next to face a wounded Dr Crokes side following their defeat in the All Ireland club final. There’s no doubt but that the Management team will have the panel prepared for an expected backlash, but it will be a stern test, especially as we will be short the services of Tommy Walsh and Gavin O’Brien who are expected to be on Kerry duty in Roscommon. The injured David Moran is also unlikely to feature. Nevertheless, there were many positives to take from our opening Round 1 victory over Na Gaeil and recent meetings between the sides suggest that this should be a close encounter. All support welcome.
Credit Union Co League Div 5
Kerins O’Rahillys B resume our Division 5 campaign away to Milltown-Castlemaine on Sunday next. We are hoping to build on an impressive victory over Kenmare Shamrocks in our opening tie, but a tough test is expected at the Mid-Kerry venue. We may also be short a key player or two as our Division 1 side will need to be strengthened due to Kerry commitments. Still, there were enough good performances in the last game to suggest that we will perform well again next Sunday. All support welcome.

There was no Academy last weekend due to the St Patrick’s Day Celebrations ☘️
Thanks to all the young children along with their parents who took part in the St Patrick’s day parade in Tralee. The weather was cold but dry for the activities of the day and everyone had a great day representing our Kerins O’Rahillys club with pride. The blue & white flags were in full flight as the children chanted how they wanted to be a Narie! The Academy will resume in Ballyrickard next Sunday, 24th March at 11am.
The U12s last game in the Town League due to be played last Saturday v Churchill was called off due to the weather. This game is to be rescheduled and details are awaited.
The U12’s will be off to Croke Park on Good Friday, 19th April to participate in a Blitz. A super exciting time for the boys and our club to be chosen to partake in the day. They will represent the club well.
The U14s played their last game in the Town League last Friday evening at home in Ballyrickard to Stacks B team. On a wet evening with slippery ball handling conditions we started the match knowing that a win would see us reach the final. The boys in blue were fast out of the blocks with Odhran Kerins scoring the first of his goals socce- style. In a tough and physical game with every ball keenly contested by both sides, we added further goals by Cillian Hussey, Odhran Foley, Odhran Kerins and points from Tomas Kennedy & Ryan Houlihan to leave us well on top at half time on a score line of 4-2 to 0-2.
Austin Stacks to their credit were playing well and in the 2nd half the Naries had to defend heroically to stem the Rock’s revival. Stacks piled on another six points in the 2nd half with O’Rahillys’ only score coming from the boot of Tomas Kennedy from a free. Our goalie and captain, Sean Collins was solid with some smart saves & had great success with his kickouts. Our full back line of Seamus Cahill, Brendan Meehan & Daniel Aneke were tight marking & gave little away. In the half back line Ruairi Kennedy, Jake Foley & Tomas Kennedy were immense & covered every blade of grass on the pitch. Jamie McCarty was full of running in both attack and defence and worked tirelessly. Cillian Hussey and Cian Lynch played their part as well in the half forward line with Odhran Kerins terrorising the Stacks inside line, where he got great support from Odhran Foley. Overall it was a well-deserved win against our neighbours in a highly competitive match. Well done to all the squad. The U14s now progress to the final of the Town L with the date for same to be confirmed.
Training as normal for U12s and U14s this week. The U16s central region campaign is put back for two weeks. They will train as normal this week.
Unfortunately the Killarney Legion blitz had to be cancelled because of the weather last Saturday. The girls were looking forward to it followed by a trip to McDonalds. Instead we had lovely hot chocolate and treats in Charlie’s Bar & Restaurant. We met the U16 Kerry ladies while in the club and the girls had their photo taken with them. Many thanks to the U16s who took time out after their training session to take photos.
Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday. This week we are home to Ballyduff in the North Kerry League. Congrats to Ciara who spoke very well on Radio Kerry about climate change during the week. Best wishes to our young ladies who will be receiving the sacrament of Confirmation during the week. Have a lovely day!
The Kerins O’ Rahilly’s U14 girls finally got their 2019 campaign underway against a very strong Rathmore side in the county league division 2 last Sunday in Ballyrickard. The Pitch was in a very soft condition and therefore hard on the legs. Nevertheless, the Kerins O’Rahilly’s girls had a massive first half playing into the wind and had a nine-point advantage at half time. The Blues kept the pressure on in the second half and the final score was Kerins O’Rahillys 8-04, Rathmore 2-04. As a team the girls played fantastically well, in particular Kelly Fitzgerald in goals. Next week we are home to ISG – more details to follow. Best wishes are also extended to the girls who will be confirmed during the week. Enjoy!
Our first county league game is fixed for March 28th. AstroTurf training continues on Wednesday. Please be there for 7.40p.m. We extend our condolences to Con and his family on the death of his Uncle Tommy. May he Rest In Peace.
We were away to Listowel Emmets last Saturday. Well done to the girls for braving the wintry weather. We were short many of the older girls due to work commitments etc, but our U16s came to the rescue – thanks to all the younger girls!
The cold and rain have played havoc over the last month all over the country which contributed to Saturday’s very wet and slippery pitch. Thankfully nobody got hurt.
We have a bye for our next fixture.
In our first game we are home to Clounmacon. Best of luck ladies.
Recruitment continues for all ages. For further details contact Shirley ( 086) 8713552.

SNIPPETS from “top of the right”
· Hard luck to Tommy Walsh and Gavin O’Brien, both of whom featured for Kerry v Mayo on Saturday last. Hopefully both will feature as Kerry seek the point in Roscommon on Sunday next that would ensure the Kingdom’s place in the Allianz National League Final.
. Hard luck too to Dr Crokes who ran into a very impressive Corofin side in the AIB All Ireland Club final.
· Well done to all in the club who put a great effort into the St Patrick’s Day parade and celebrations.
The club wishes to extend our sympathies to the family and friends of Betty Hennessy (nee Kerins) and Tommy O’Connor, both of Kerins Park. RIP. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.
