Seniors:
Following our win in Listowel on Saturday night in the opening round of the county senior football championship, the draw for the second round sees us pitted against favourites Dr Crokes in a game which will take place next weekend – the venue and time will be known on Monday night next following a meeting of the CCC. A win would see us through to the quarter finals which are down for decision on the weekend of 29/30 Sept whilst a defeat would see us enter round 3 and a game on the weekend of 15/16th September.

Molyneaux Cup:
We came up short against old rivals John Mitchels on Friday night last when losing out on a final score line of 4-11 to 3-08 in a game that we looked like winning for long periods. The fixing of the game 24 hours before our county championship encounter with Feale Rangers was the deciding factor in this game as it deprived us of 6/7 guys who otherwise would have been available to bainisteoir Eugene McGrath.
We held the upper hand in the opening half and were 3 points to the good approaching half time when the concession of a goal levelled matters up @ 1-05 each; our scorers in this half were Johnny Keane (2), Rory Molloy, Donagh O’Brien & Bryan Scannell with Rory O’Connor chipping in with a goal from wing back.
The second half saw us take the game to the lads from Boherbuí with Johnny Keane to the fore scoring 2-02, one goal from a penalty and with less than 6 minutes remaining we led by 3 points – however, from here to the finish we conceded 3 goals to lose out by 6 points in most disappointing fashion.
Team: Killian Moran, Gary Nolan, Thomas McGrath, Aidan Mangan, Rory O’Connor (1-0), David Murphy, Seán Collins, Gearóid Hartnett, Rory Molloy (0-01), Donagh O’Brien (0-01), James Lyons, Seán Griffin, Bryan Scannell (0-01), Johnny Keane (2-04) and Shane McElligott ( 0-01).
Kerry Minors:
Congratulations to the Kerry minors who made history on Sunday when winning a fifth All Ireland minor title in a row – having gone 20 years without a title from 1994 to 2014 the recent dominance is unprecedented and a testament to the great work being carried out at under age level in all areas of the county – at schools, clubs and development squads. A special word to Peter Keane and his management team who have remained unbeaten over past 3 years.
