The past few weeks have all been about preparation both physically and mentally for the weekend decider with Dr Crokes for a place in the final of this year’s senior county championship.
Its all of ten years since we last contested the blue riband of Kerry football and while we have been knocking on the door in recent years, we are now just 6o minutes away from this years finale and no stone will be left unturned in our bid for glory. Standing in our way are the current holders and favourites Dr Crokes and though we had a never to be forgotten win over the same opposition in round 2A there is no doubt we will face a different side on Sunday. For our part, training has gone well, the attitude is good and despite the loss of the unfortunate Cian Sayers from the quarter final, there is no doubting the desire to return the club to a final which will be played on Sunday 28th Oct.
We are asking for your support on the day as you have done this year to date travelling in large numbers to various venues – the players and management to a man have made a huge commitment with many sacrifices along the way to get us this far – it would be great to have a big colourful support present on Sunday – bigi linn!
We are scheduled to play in the 2nd semi final on Sunday in Austin Stack Park with throw in @ 3.45 – it promises to be a great occasion and will be preceded at 2 pm by the meeting of Dingle and East Kerry.
There was no winner of last week’s lotto draw where the winning numbers drawn were: 2, 6 , 13 & 19 – Brian Magee matched 3 and wins €25.
Tickets €2/3 for €5 can be purchased from the kiosk in the club house or from the following outlets: Jimmys on Strand Road, Counihans Princes St., The Abbey Inn and Foley’s Spar on the Castlemaine Rd. All funds gathered are ploughed back into various club developments/projects.
The five entrants for the special December draw ( 4 X €250) are as follows: Mary Kerins, Sheila Coen, Norman Foley, Jeremiah Quirke and Nelius c/o Fred.
Next week’s jackpot will be for a prize of €2,700.
