Seniors
Following the disappointment of last week’s defeat in the county semi final, attention now turns to our relegation play off vs Kilcummin on Sunday week, 22nd Oct.
In a cruel twist of scheduling we are the curtain raiser to the county senior final in Austin Stack Park with our game due to throw in @ 13.00 . The task for management this week will be to pick up the pieces after last week’s defeat, a task made all the more difficult with injuries to key players who will in all likelihood miss out on this decider.
Kilcummin have been in these situations before and will provide a tough examination of our character – hopefully the lads will have recovered sufficiently to edge us over the line and preserve our senior status for 2018.
Junior Blues
Our juvenile academy finished their year with a 5k sponsored walk from the club and round by the canal. We were blessed with the weather.
Huge number in attendance with children from the ages of 3 years to 16 years walking with their parents, grandparents and mentors. When they arrived back to the club they were provided with refreshments and treats. The best part of the morning was when Barry John Keane presented a medal to each member of the juvenile academy. Thanks Barry John.
Our juvenile academy has been a huge success this year. Thanks to the people who have made this possible …our coaches, parents for ensuring that the children got to training, Edmond, Maurice and Nigel as always for their help , Kathy and Shirley for all their hard work on Sunday mornings and finally the children themselves. They have put in great work over the year and it is great to see how much their skills have improved. We will see you all again on Sunday, October 29th for a Halloween party. Details to follow.
U8 /U10 / U11 Girls
23 of our girls travelled to Douglas last Sunday for a blitz. They left shortly after 8a.m. They were divided into 2 teams- U9 and U11. They played very well in all three games the U9s winning 2 games and the U11s winning all 3. Darren was our team mascot for the U9s and Mia was our team mascot for the U11s. We were treated to refreshments afterwards. Thanks to Douglas G.A.A. Club for inviting us. Thanks to their coaches and everyone who helped out. A great day out was had by all and it was a very well organised event. We wish Fiadh a speedy recovery from her injury, she continued to play on even though unknown to her she had a fracture in her elbow.
U10 Boys
Well done to the lads who travelled to a blitz in Mallow last Saturday morning. They played some great football and won all three games. On their way home they were treated to McDonalds. Thanks to their coaches and everyone who helped out.

Mental Fitness in Sport
Tralee natives Dr Martin Lawlor along with his sister Dr Susan Lawlor are 2 of the co founders of “State of Mind Ireland”, a sports charity that tackles stigma and promotes positive mental health. One of the aims of the organisation is to raise awareness of mental fitness by delivering comprehensive education sessions to sports groups promoting resilience, mindfulness and well being. We have been working with Martin & Susan over past few weeks and will be holding our first session in mid November – details to be announced later.

Club lotto of €9,600 was not won last week with nobody managing to match 3 numbers either – winning numbers : 2, 25, 27 & 32.
