Sympathy
There was much shock and sadness on Monday and throughout the week with the news of the untimely death of Grace Moran of Fairway Heights. Grace was daughter of popular local couple Eileen & Jimmy who run Moran’s Foodstore on Strand Road, sister of Tricia and mother to Jade. The large attendances at her removal and funeral are testament to the esteem in which she and her family are held in the local community and beyond and a fitting tribute to the regard in which Grace was held by her peers. We offer our sincere condolences to Eileen , Jimmy, Tricia, Jade and the extended Moran & O’Sullivan families. Suaimhneas síoraí dá hanam dilis.
Mental fitness in Sport
Our first session with State of Mind Ireland took place before a large attendance in Strand Road on Friday night last , 17th Nov. Those present were treated to an hour long discourse on various topics in mental health by brother and sister, Drs Martin & Susan Lawlor.
The presentation was both moving and emotional as they recounted their experiences in all areas of mental health and offered advice on various questions from the audience.
The main focus of their organisation is on intervention and education and also creating more awareness of mental health issues; building resilience and hope are key in how we handle adversity in our everyday life and the ” 5 A day for health and happiness” are the fundamentals around which this is based.
The feedback from those present was most positive with many fulsome in their praise of the night and the presenters. A second session is planned for January 2018.
