Seniors:
We travel to Beaufort on Sat night next, 28th July for our penultimate game in this years league. We currently lie 2nd in the table, 4 points adrift of pacesetters Dr Crokes but crucially, 2 ahead of An Ghaeltacht in 3rd place- a place in this years final is very much in our own hands. If we can maintain the form we have shown in recent games then the two points on offer are very much within our grasp; Beaufort are in the wrong end of the table and will be hoping that two points could save their position in division 1 having been promoted last year. The game will throw in @ 19.00 and your support would be greatly appreciated.
U-21:
The Acorn Life sponsored county U-21 championship commences on Tuesday night next, 24th July when we have home venue vs West Kerry. This is a straight knock out competition with all games to be finished on the night, with extra time playable if necessary. Eugene McGrath and his backroom team of Davy Keane, Liam Kissane, Tony Corridon and John Lynch can call on the likes of senior players, Darragh & Shane McElligott, Karl Mullins, Tom Hoare, Gearóid Dillane, Donagh O’Brien, Shane Foley, Seán Collins, Kieran Mangan, Padraig Griffin and Gazza Savage and will be keen to get off to a good start with a home win. As always, it is difficult to predict the composition of a divisional side which will be made up of players from Annascaul, Lispole, Castlegregory and An Ghaeltacht but any side representing the west will be primed to give a good account of themselves and we will have to be on top of our game to advance to round 2. The game throws in @ 19.00
Coiste Tra Lí junior town league:
Our scheduled opening game vs Ardfert did not take place last week as Ardfert were unable to field a team and match has now been rescheduled for late August. The fixture vs Ballymac proposed for this coming Weds night is likely to be postponed due to the U-21 fixture on Tuesday night – more on our website as the week progresses. Na Gaeil have withdrawn from the competition.
Minors:
The Coiste Trá Lí division 2 minor final which was scheduled for last Friday night did not take place and is rescheduled for Sat 28 July.
Inter County:
By virtue of David Clifford’s last minute goal, Kerry are still in contention for a place in the semi finals of this years championship – Monaghan will rue their many missed chances and would have deserved to go through – we live to fight another day and will have Kildare as our hosts on 4th August in Killarney – a win and a win for Galway vs Monaghan could see us advance – well done to David who played his part in our draw on Sunday.
Shane McElligott lined out with Kerry in their big win over Sligo in the All Ireland U-21 B semi final played in Ballinasloe on Sunday – well done Shane, best of luck in the final.
Lotto:
There was no winning ticket in last week’s club lotto draw where the winning numbers drawn were: 8, 18, 19 & 28 – nobody matched 3.
The five entrants for the special December draw are as follows: Mary Tobin, Teddy Kerins, J McAdams, Kevin Finn and Ian Foley.
Next week’s jackpot will be €5,000 – tickets €2/3 for €5 can be purchased from the kiosk in the club house and usual outlets.
Please note that it is the responsibility of each individual playing our club lotto via direct debit to ensure that direct debit is paid monthly to the club.
In the event that we do not receive two consecutive monthly direct debits an individual’s lotto numbers will no longer be valid for entry to our weekly lotto draw.
If an individual cancels their direct debit their lotto entry is deemed cancelled
