Seniors:
Sunday next 2nd Dec will see us contest the county league division 1 final ( our first since 2013) when we travel to Lewis Road to take on table toppers Dr Crokes.
This will be the fifth time we will face off against the same opposition this year with the count 3-1 in favour of the Killarney side and following their recent successes in Kerry and Munster they will undoubtedly start as warm favourites to add to their collection of silverware.
Their record this year speaks for itself, dropping just one point in the county league ( a draw with Glenbeigh/Glencar) whilst we are the only side to lower their colours in the county championship which they then recovered from to go on and gain county honours.
Whilst we have largely been inactive since exiting the county championship in mid October, Crokes have been engaged in county and Munster finals which should see them have the edge in terms of match fitness and sharpness.
The game throws in @ 2 pm with extra time playable if necessary.
AGM:
The AGM will take place this coming Saturday night ( Dec 1st) in the club house commencing at 8 pm – this is the most important meeting of the year and gives all members an opportunity to raise any issues in relation to club or association policy.
Rule changes:
A meeting of the GAA Central Council has four proposed changes to the rules of gaelic football which will be trialled during pre-season tournaments and the Allianz Leagues.
The five proposals put forward by the Standing Playing Rules Committee have been given the green light.
The proposals related to the restricted use of the hand-pass, the side line kick, the introduction of the ‘sin bin’ and the advanced mark were all sanctioned by the meeting.
An amended version of the kick-out proposal was also passed that will see all kick-outs take place from the 20m line without having to pass the 45m line.
Academy:
The Christmas party will take place on Sunday 9th Dec in Charlie’s Bar & Bistro – all families in our community are invited for what promises to be a great day – more on this next week.
Ladies:
On Sat last our upcoming U11, the U12s and the U14s made the trip to Mahon in Cork for their end of year party – we had great fun ice skating and then on to the shopping centre where the girls shopped to their hearts content! Thanks to all the parents who volunteered and to the girls who were a credit to their families, themselves and our club.
The Awards night will take place on Sunday 9th after the Christmas fair – more on this next week.
We are recruiting for 2019 – indoor training will take place in January, if you are interested you can call Shirley on 086 8713552.
