Seniors:
Defeat in Beaufort on Sat night means that we now have to beat or at least draw with Dingle in our final league game to qualify for this year’s final – defeat would mean we could end up in a play off with any one of Spa, Templenoe or An Ghaeltacht all of whom lie two points behind us in the table. Even though this was a disappointing result given our recent form, we started with 5 U-21s and introduced another 2 during the game – exposure at this level will stand to these lads as the championship beckons.
The game vs Dingle will take place on weekend of 18th August if Kerry are NOT involved in this year’s All Ireland final or on the weekend of October 14th if they are involved; our next senior outing will be against John Mitchels in the Coiste Trá Lí championship on Sunday August 12th in Strand Road with throw in @ 14.00
Best of luck to David & Barry John for next weekends game vs Kildare – a win is a must though depending on the result in Salthill ( Galway vs Monaghan) it may not be enough – here’s hoping that it will and we will be preparing for a semi final on weekend of 11th August.
Garveys Super Valu County Championship:
The draw for this year’s championship will take place on this coming Monday night ( 30th) @ 7 pm at Tralee Bay Wetlands – the format for the championship will be similar to last year and played in a ” Christy Ring” style setup – the draw is an open draw with first round games scheduled to take place on weekend of 8th Sept.
U-21:
We exited this year’s championship on Tuesday night last ( 24th) when going under to West Kerry in Strand Road by five points.
We await news from county board on this year’s club championship.
Minors:
Congratulations to our minors who were victorious on Sat evening last in the Coiste Trá Lí division 2 league final when beating Ardfert. This was a fine team display but special mention must be made of Jordan Foley and Daniel Bowler who were dominant throughout – TJ McMahon was our goal scorer with good scores coming also from Conor Hayes, Aidan Mangan and the aforementioned Daniel Bowler – Stephen Nix too got in on the act from defence. Well done to Paul Ryan and his management team.
Lotto:
There was no winning ticket in last week’s lotto draw where the winning numbers were: 18, 22, 23 & 31 – there was no match 3 winner. Next week’s jackpot will be for a grand prize of €5,100. Tickets ( €2/3 for €5) can be purchased online, in the club house or at any of the following locations: Jimmys on Strand Road, Counihans Princes St and Foleys Spar Castlemaine Road.
The five entrants for the special December draw are as follows: John O’Connor ( c/o the Bar), Trish Goodall, Madeleine, Tony Corridon and Paul Stephenson.
