It's hard to imagine that it is 16 years since we last contested an All Ireland final at this grade but that's the reality after Kerry’s nail biting one point win over Meath on Sat last which will see us face off vs Tyrone in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise next Sunday 19th where proceedings will commence at 13.30

That winning squad from 2008, captained by Killian Young, contained 4 members from Strand Road namely Gavan Duffy, David Moran, Gary Kissane and Tommy Walsh - David & Tommy were ever present in the 5 game winning run with Gavan appearing in 3 including the final vs Kildare, whilst Gary was understudy to keeper Tomás mac an tSaoir.

We  provide 3 members of this year’s squad, namely Tomás Kennedy, Darragh O’Connor and Ben Hanafin - Tomás has started all games to date with Darragh & Ben yet to see championship action though both have featured on the bench vs Meath and Tipperary respectively.

Maurice Horan is part of the management team and a vital cog in the operation.

Kerry have been impressive to date having beaten Clare, Cork twice, Tipperary and now Meath - the win on Saturday was the stiffest task to date against a Meath side who had won the minor All Ireland 3 years ago and were managed by Cathal O’Bric then and again on Saturday.

Kerry could have won the game more comfortably but spurned a number of goal scoring chances to keep the game on a knife edge right to the finish.

Tyrone will enter the game as favourites having seen off Roscommon on Saturday bagging 3-18 in the process -  they may not find the Kerry rearguard as accommodating on Sunday however and a close encounter is expected - match report here.

We would like to wish Tomás, Darragh, Ben and coach Maurice Horan all the best as they endeavour to bring home the Clarke Cup for the 11th time.
